My chineses sharpay half yellow lab 6 yrs old won't sleep in a dog bed I got him 2 or 3 yrs ago how can I get

him to sleep on it? He sleeps in the basement at night.
He goes to the basement by himself he isn't forced to go down there. It's nice and cool down there. It's his break from the summer heat too since his fur is shaggy like golden retrievers and black.
