For what i know your dog can have a bed as long as you want, but make sure he/she fits in the bed. But there are all kinds of bed sizes. I have a 8 year old Jack Russel Terrier that still sleeps in his bed. BESIDES THE AGE DOES NOT MATTER THE SIZE DOES YOUR DOG HAVE TO BE COMFORTABLE IN HIS BED, HE SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE BIT MORE ROOM THEN HE NEEDS.

What type of dog is it? I would buy the bed based on the dog's size, not his age...

Keep an eye on the dog and the bed. When he grows out of it get a new one. Puppies grow the fastest in the first 6 months. They will continue to get bigger after the six months but the growth rate slows down. Generally dogs are full grown when they are a year old.
